Charles Duchemin (Louis de Funes) is the editor of the world-famous gourmet guide Guide Duchemin and also a gourmet of the highest order. He is enthusiastic, but also tough, and has already alienated many a restaurant owner. He is so highly regarded that he is even spied on, and he sometimes disguises himself as a chauffeur, an American, or an old lady when testing restaurants. To this end, he now wants to finally establish his son Gérard (Colouche) as his successor, but fails to realize that Gérard would much rather pursue a career as a clown with a small traveling circus. Then the fast-food giant Tricatel gets in his way, wanting to flood the world with its artificial-tasting food. Now it's a matter of the honor of French cuisine, but unfortunately, a jealous chef takes revenge in such a way that Duchemin loses his sense of taste. Now there's only one thing left to do: walk into the lion's den, because Duchemin doesn't think much of Tricatel's fast food...
