Against the dreary backdrop of gray apartment buildings, the small Casselly circus has set up its modest ring on a plot of rubble. The day is filled with hard work from early morning onwards for all members of the two artist families involved. The work on the training mat, the women's domestic chores, the repair of the decrepit tractor - all of this is done under the pressure of the question: Will we be able to perform today? Only with the help of their meager daily earnings can the two families keep their heads above water from day to day. Fortunately, the threatening rain clouds disperse, it remains dry, and the performance can begin. It consists of the legendary clown act (Bee, bee, give me honey), a tightrope walk, a little pony riding, and the 'death leap' of a little girl from a five-meter height. When the audience disperses after the performance, the circus remains behind in all its poverty. It has no bright future.
