Štindl, V. Štindl The adventurous mountain landscape with its magically beautiful streams and lakes holds its small and large secrets. One of these secrets is the carp Pepik, who eats out of Jirka's hand. Jirka lives with his grandfather, the ferryman, and is a headstrong boy. His greatest wish is to catch a huge pike, the dangerous enemy of his carp friend. He tries many times, but always without success. The mockery of his companions is all he can count on. Angry at the whole world, he first leaves his home, but then thinks better of it and finally succeeds in hunting the pike with his grandfather's new fishing rod. Orphan Jirka lives with his grandfather in a secluded spot by the river. He spends all his free time near the water and does not associate with other children. His biggest dream is to catch a large pike, which he finally manages when he realizes that you can't do it without friends.
